The 2018 Australian Junior and Under-21 Speedway Championships kick off tonight at Olympic Park, Mildura, with the Under-16 125cc, 250cc, Under-21 500c and Under-16 125cc Australian Team Title (Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland).

Matthew ‘Happy’ Gilmore will be one to watch in the Under-21 class after an impressive 11th place finish in last weeks Australian Senior Solo Speedway Championship.

Gilmore will have riders hot on his heels with the likes of, Joshua McDonald, Dale Borlace, Brayden McGuiness and Mitchell Cluff all looking to claim the 2018 Australian Under-21 500cc Solo Speedway Championship and improve on their 2017 performances.

The meet begins tonight with practice for all classes, giving the riders a great chance to adapt to the track conditions and acclimatise to the Mildura heat.

Friday night action will see our first final of the meet, with the Under-16 125cc title up for grabs, whilst the Under-21 class will have qualifying for Saturday night’s final.

Saturday night will see the main event, the Under-21’s will duke it out for the title and for many of them, this will be their last Junior meeting before making the jump to Senior racing full time.

The Under-16 250cc class will also step into the limelight on Saturday night, with 2017 runner-up, Keynan Rew looking to go one better in 2018.

A battle for state supremacy will conclude the meet on Sunday with Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland battling it out in the Under-16 125cc Australian Team Title.
