Gillman Speedway and Mildura Motorcycle Club are ready to host the inaugural Winter Development Teams Program this weekend! The action kicks off at Gillman on the 5th of May before moving onto Mildura on the 6th of May.

Justin Sedgmen will be back on the bike for the first time since breaking his collarbone on Boxing Day and will be using the Winter Development Team Program, to get some time back on the bike.
Sedgmen has been working hard behind the scenes to help both clubs come up with a program that can develop the younger riders and older guys and give them a taste of team racing before heading to Europe and being so green.

“It’s going to be really cool, its taking off quite a bit and we can’t wait for the first one of the first weekend of May. We have 2 full teams ready and raring to go and the biggest part is that we have backing from Unia Leszno and Swindon robins who are the two biggest teams in Europe. They are allowing us to use their name and they will also be using this a development program for their teams.

“For me this is so exciting to see where it is heading and to be involved with setting it up, and its filling the gap we currently have with the shortage of under 21 riders. We will also have 250 races during the team’s event and here’s hoping this will bring them on faster and be ready for the international stage.”

“This tournament fills a massive gap in the Australian scene as we have no team races, and over the winter break we saw this as a great opportunity. Dave Parker put the idea in my head, and once we started talking about it, the concept has taken off.”

“We are hoping this tournament will become a real pathway for riders down under and give them a great chance to head overseas and be ready to go in the team environment,” Finished Sedgman.
