Current Rule:
15.24.5 b) ii) Is attached to the rear mudguard,
New Rule:
15.24.5 b) ii) is attached to the rear mudguard no higher than 30mm from the bottom edge of rear mudguard.
Rationale:
This change is in response to riders attaching their mudflaps up to 100mm or more above the bottom edge of the mudguard, rendering the mudflap ineffective as the mudflap is able to fold up allowing dirt from the rear tyre to affect the visibility of riders behind. This also increases the amount of dirt that is sprayed onto and into spectator areas. Both of these situations are considered safety issues and therefore require immediate attention.
