The 2026 Australian Speedway Championship will commence at Diamond Park Speedway in Wodonga for the opening two rounds on Saturday, January 3 and Sunday, January 4 respectively.
Riders will be put through their paces over 360 metres of decomposed granite in a bid to kickstart their campaigns in the best way possible.
The race meeting will be run over 20 heats of four laps each, with the riders placed 1st and 2nd on points advancing to the final, while those placed 3rd to 10th will battle it out in the two semi-finals. The format is as follows:
- Riders who finish the 20 heats in 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th on points will compete in the 1st semi-final; and
- Riders who finish the 20 heats in 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th on points will compete in the 2nd semi-final.
The winners of the two semi finals will join those that finished 1st and 2nd on points, with riders putting it all on the table in a bid to claim round honours.
Entry gates open at 4:00pm on both days, with motorcycles to roll out on track for practice at 5:30pm before racing gets underway at 7:30pm.
Spectators are in for a treat with the opportunity to get up close to the behind-the-scenes action, with the chance to see the motorcycles and riders during the pit lane walk between 4:00-5:00pm. You may even be lucky enough to grab an autograph from your favourite rider!
