The roster for the 2026 CBS Bins FIM Oceania Speedway Championship at Gillman on January 11 has been finalised, with defending champion Rohan Tungate set to face steely opposition from fellow Aussies and a posse of talented internationals.
The 16-rider field includes 2020 world U21 champion Jaimon Lidsey, 2022 Australian U21 champion Keynan Rew and rapidly emerging 16-year-old Beau Bailey, while six-time British speedway champion Scott Nicholls heads the international contingent alongside fast American Luke Becker.
The event is a particularly happy hunting ground for Lidsey, who won in 2024 and has finished runner-up on two other occasions, while the overseas riders will be looking to become the first non-Aussie winner since the UK’s Adam Ellis in 2022.
For local riders competing in the FIM Oceania Speedway Championship, extra motivation will come in the form of a guaranteed spot to particpate in the 2026 Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) qualification process. That honour will go to the highest placed Australian.
