Sydney will make a landmark return to the Australian Speedway Championship in 2027 with Western Sydney Speedway to host the fourth and final round on January 9.
The milestone will mark Sydney’s first taste of Australian championship action in 19 years as it joins three speedway staples on the 2027 calendar: Mildura (January 2), Gillman (January 4) and Wodonga (January 7).
Western Sydney Speedway – located south of Sydney Motorsport Park and adjacent to Sydney Dragway – was officially opened in 2022 and in late 2025 hosted its first solo motorcycle event won by Speedway Grand Prix star Jack Holder.
Now, in a major shot in the arm for speedway enthusiasts, the track’s stocks have risen again as it joins the Australian Speedway Championship in 2027 – the first time Sydney has hosted the national showpiece since way back in 2008.

While Western Sydney Speedway will host the grand finale, the pressure really kicks off a week earlier at the historic Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura before the baton passes to Gillman Speedway in Adelaide and then Diamond Park in Wodonga. All three have hosted gripping Australian championship rounds in recent years.
