Motorcycling Australia has selected a 10-rider squad for the 2026 FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) final in Warsaw on August 29, as it attempts to win the prestigious Ove Fundin Trophy for the third time.

The Team Australia squad is as follows:

  • Brady Kurtz, NSW (captain)
  • Jaimon Lidsey, Vic
  • Josh Pickering, NSW
  • Keynan Rew, Qld
  • Rohan Tungate, NSW

Ten days before the SWC final, Team Australia will be trimmed to a starting line-up of four riders, plus one substitute who can be called into action at any time.

The other SWC finalists are Poland, Great Britain and Denmark – the same nations which fought out the 2023 finale. Poland, as the host nation, and Australia, after winning the 2025 Speedway of Nations, were both seeded straight through to the 2026 decider.

Starting positions for the four teams have also been announced, with Poland in red helmets, Great Britain in blue, Denmark in white and Australia in yellow.

Australian team manager Mark Lemon said the opportunity to represent the nation on the world stage remains a tremendous honour for everyone involved.

“The Speedway World Cup is special. Whenever you put on the green and gold, there’s an enormous amount of pride and responsibility that comes with representing Australia,” he said.

“Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy Stadium will provide an incredible stage for the SWC final, and we’re under no illusions about the strength of the opposition. We’ll arrive there determined, prepared and ready to give everything for Australia.

“Australia has a proud history in international team competition, and we’ll be doing everything we can to add another chapter to that history, particularly on the back of our Speedway of Nations gold medal success in 2025.

Named in honour of Swedish speedway legend and five-time individual world champion Ove Fundin, the SWC trophy represents the ultimate prize in international team speedway.

With Jason Crump, Leigh Adams and Ryan Sullivan in full flight, Australia won the first two SWC finals in 2001 and 2002. Since then, Australia has collected four silver and three bronze medals in 12 finals appearances.

At the last SWC in 2023, Poland won from Great Britain, Denmark and Australia.
